For indoors or outdoors, active or cozy – here you will find inspiration for a varied winter.

Ice skating

…is not only an effective whole-body workout, but it also trains coordination, balance, and responsiveness. A welcome change from the winter walk and those who skate on frozen lakes are additionally rewarded with a wonderful nature experience.

Go skiing

…or maybe you prefer to try another winter sport? Tobogganing, cross-country skiing, ski touring, snowboarding, snowshoeing… The offer is large and is partly even offered by the vacation hotels themselves.

Drinking mulled wine

…is simply part of the pre-Christmas season. We try ourselves this year at the Swedish counterpart, the Glogg. For this, you prepare an essence with cloves, cinnamon sticks, fresh ginger (peeled and chopped), chopped cardamom, and high-proof alcohol (cognac, rum, or vodka) and let it steep for up to a week. To serve, warm a bottle of red wine, mix in sugar and 100ml of the spice essence. First, put some almonds and raisins into the glasses and then pour the finished glögg.

Watch a Christmas movie or start a series marathon

…is probably THE activity for dreary winter days when you just want to snuggle up at home. Add some hot chocolate or tea, put on some fuzzy socks and you’re good to go. After all, classics like “The Vacation”, “Home Alone” or “Love Actually” can be watched every year anew.

Send Christmas cards

…and make your loved ones happy! Handwritten cards and letters have become rare. Yet, or perhaps precisely because of this, they are a particularly beautiful appreciation.

Bathing in ice water

…was already one of the winter fitness trends of the last season. Suddenly the hype was big and everyone wanted to take advantage of the health benefits. And rightly so: regular immersion in ice-cold water can strengthen the immune system and boost physical regeneration. It also promotes mental strength. However, since ice bathing also involves risks, it is essential to find out beforehand how to go about it properly. Numerous tips are available online, not least from ice bathing guru Wim Hof, who has helped the cold bath gain popularity in recent years.

Start a snowball fight

…is not just for kids! We get annoyed enough in the winter about not clearing roads and driveways that need to be shoveled free. Time to have some fun in the snow too!

Build a snowman

…is too boring for you? Then try other shapes and variations. There are no limits to your imagination – provided there is enough snow.

Reviewing the year

…can be a wonderful way to reflect on what happened in the past year and how you envision the next. Do I have any goals or wishes that I would like to fulfill? Writing these down can be helpful to remind yourself and actively do something to achieve them.

Creating a photo book

…is not only a creative activity for which we find more time now that it gets dark earlier. When we look at the snapshots of the last 12 months, we also quickly realize how many beautiful moments we have experienced and with what great people we can share our lives. Besides, it would be a shame to let these unforgettable memories get lost in the digital chaos.

Start planning the vacations for next year

…because it comes faster than you think! Whether it remains with dreaming, one only roughly considers whether it should go to the sea, in the mountains or to the lake, or even already booked, is of course up to everyone. The Falkensteiner Hotels & Residences reward the latter with up to 25% early booking bonus 😉
