As much as we are happy that spring is finally here, for allergy sufferers it also means watery eyes, runny noses, coughs, and many other inconveniences. Medication can help, but it usually makes you tired and weakens your concentration. Immunization and other therapies are often very long and exhausting. That is why many allergy sufferers decide against medication. Do you feel addressed?
The bad news is: that we don’t know any home remedies that make the symptoms disappear either. But the good news is that there are some that at least promise relief. We asked allergy sufferers what their best home remedies for allergies are. Here are the top 5 tips for you to make your life at least a little easier in spring and summer:
1. change the pillowcase every day
Yes, it’s a bit of a hassle and you’ll probably have to get a few more pillowcases, but if it makes your sleep more comfortable, you can put up with it.
2. apple vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is generally considered a good remedy for all sorts of problems. A tablespoon diluted in a glass of water with a little ginger and honey relieves aches and pains such as colds, itching and headaches.
3. air purifier
Fans are often in use in summer anyway. Just get a fan with a built-in air filter. This will eliminate most pollen indoors and at least give you a clear airway at home.
4. pollen alarm apps
To avoid swollen eyes and cold in the first place, you can also check the pollen situation on various apps. This way, you’ll always be prepared to know which grasses and pollen are on the move when you go out into nature.
5. Eucalyptus oil
Many people with pollen allergies swear by eucalyptus oil instead of nasal spray, which puts even more strain on the mucous membranes. Mix one drop with a little cooking oil, dip a cotton swab in it, and wet the inside of the nose with it.
