For this reason, we would like to provide you with destination tips about our hotels & residences in our new series – because sometimes more is simply more and the leisure activities around a perfect stay also need to be planned. We have therefore asked local experts which insider tips they would recommend to you.
Summer, sun, sea – and more
This reading tour begins in beautiful northern Dalmatia. Nobody knows better than Sladjana Sudar, Cluster Marketing Manager of Falkensteiner Hotels & Residences Punta Skala, what else there is to experience in the region besides crystal clear water and more than 200 days of sunshine a year. Here are her tips for a successful trip to the diverse Dalmatian coast:
Nin – salt and a small cathedral
Only 10 kilometres from Zadar is the small town of Nin. However, Nin is not only an old Croatian royal town: “In the city centre, which can be crossed on foot without any effort, visitors can marvel at the smallest cathedral in the world, Sveti Križ. Measuring only about 8 metres long, 8 metres wide and 8 metres high, this is the landmark of Nin and famous beyond.”
Nin is also an excellent place to learn about sea salt: “The Solana Nin Salt Museum informs those interested about the production and the diverse history of salt, which is historically so important for the town. The process of salt production and the tips given there on how to use salt are more amazing than imagined and absolutely worth a visit!”
Under the sea…
It is less salty, but all the wetter not far from the Veli Rat lighthouse on the island of Dugi Otok, part of the Kornati National Park: “An absolute must for divers and all those who want to become one. Here, in crystal-clear water, you can explore, among other things, an Italian merchant ship that capsized in 1984. Adventure seekers are guaranteed not to be disappointed here.”
Lots and lots of sand – and largely unknown
A real insider tip in the Zadar region is the Bilotinjak beach in Privlaka: “Golden sandy beach, dancing, gentle waves and, except for locals, only a few people – a heavenly scenery! The whole area looks like it’s from another world, steep cliffs follow the coastline that slopes lazily into the sea, leaving long, sandy shoals. Pssst! Don’t tell, just come here with your loved one to leave him or her speechless!”
