Do you think that Kronplatz can only be used for skiing and hiking? You are absolutely wrong because Kronplatz offers much more! The area around Brunico is a highly recommendable vacation destination, where all adventure-hungry and nature lovers will find something to do. Kronplatz is part of the UNESCO World Heritage and with its 2.275 m height is the heart of the Puster Valley. Here are some tips on how to make your vacation an unforgettable experience.
Shot down the slope
With a choice of 119 perfectly groomed slopes, Kronplatz is considered the number one ski mountain in South Tyrol. From beginners to experienced skiers, there is guaranteed to be a suitable slope for everyone. Those who love a challenge can try their hand at one of the five black pistes and put all their skill and ability to the test. For a break in between, there are about 40 huts and restaurants where you can fill your stomach with good delicacies.
As an alternative to skiing, many activities are offered, so you can bring some variety into your vacation:
- ski tour
- cross country skiing
- Ice skating
- Ice Climbing
Events on the summit of the white covered Kronplatz
But Kronplatz has even more up its sleeve: events are always taking place. From wine tastings at various huts to concerts or competitions, everything is there. For example, this year from December 16th, the event “Wine Emotion” will take place every Wednesday – you will be accompanied by a ski instructor from hut to hut, taste local wines with local winemakers, and enjoy delicious South Tyrolean specialties.
Another great event is “Kronplatz Ski & Music“: street musicians from all over Europe provide a great atmosphere in the huts on the slopes. The highlight of this event is the final concert, which takes place on the last day of this four-day event on the large concert stage at the summit: You will enjoy the music and at the same time the unique panorama of the surrounding mountain world.
The Kronplatz from the bird’s eye view
If you think that the area is too large to explore everything, you are mistaken. This is very well possible with a paragliding or tandem flight. Accompanied by an experienced pilot, you can enjoy the wonderful view of the entire Kronplatz, the city of Bruneck, and countless mountain peaks.
The feeling is indescribable and unique when you float freely like a bird over the peaks of South Tyrol and experience the Kronplatz from a completely new perspective.
The culture at an altitude of over 2,000 meters
If you are looking for a break from sports or are looking for a change of pace, if you want to learn more about the culture of South Tyrol, you will of course also find what you are looking for at Kronplatz. In the Messner Mountain Museum Corones, you can immerse yourself in the history of South Tyrol and learn more about the mountaineering legend Reinhold Messner. As one of the six Mountain Messner Museums, the MMM Corones is certainly one of the most interesting ones in terms of location. The Lumen Museum is also worth a visit: here everything revolves around the history of mountain photography and is also located at the summit of the Kronplatz.
Brunico – The heart of the Puster Valley
Where the Badia Valley and the Tauferer Ahrntal converge, the 11,000 inhabitant city of Bruneck is located. If you love to stroll through the quaint alleys and explore the small boutiques lined up side by side, Brunico is the place to be. For in-between, there are enough small cafés and vinotheques where you can take a break and watch the people strolling through the city. For those who prefer a little more culture, Bruneck Castle, which looks down from the Schlossberg onto the whole city, is a real eye-catcher.
Drawing new strength and energy
Since mid-November, the new 5-star Falkensteiner Hotel Kronplatz has also opened its doors for you. The Adults-only Hotel offers a lot of highlights and is located directly at the valley station in Reischach. In the unique Aquapura Mountain SPA, you can process the experiences of the last few days in peace and quiet while enjoying the great offers of the spa with a view of the Kronplatz to the full.
As you can see, there is something for everyone at Kronplatz: whether you are a nature lover, big or small, bon vivant or culture enthusiast, here everyone gets their money’s worth!
