The change from summer to autumn is often not easy for us: the days get shorter, the sunshine rarer and the temperatures cooler. But the autumn months don’t have to be dreary at all! Our bucket list promises anticipation of the third season and provides plenty of inspiration for the most beautiful experiences:
Autumn walks are even more fun when you have a little mission along the way 😎
Find the most beautiful leaves and create a herbarium, pick up trash from the roadside during so-called “plogging” and thus make a contribution to environmental protection, or just collect chestnuts! Did you know that you can even use them to make zero-waste detergent?
While we’re on the subject of chestnuts: not only for washing, they are also highly recommended for eating 😄 We’re not talking about horse chestnuts, of course, but sweet chestnuts. We are already looking forward to when the first chestnut bearers open their stands and sweeten our autumn walks even more.
…is not just for kids! If you don’t believe it, you should try it urgently, because jumping per se puts you in a good mood.
Fall time is pumpkin time, fall time is soup time. What could be better than cooking pumpkin soup? Ready in no time, comfortingly warming and sooo good!
The American cult drink is no longer a novelty in domestic coffee shops and is also popular in this country. Those who prefer the do-it-yourself version of the hot drink with pumpkin can find all kinds of recipes online.
Another American tradition that has spilled over into Europe? You thought wrong! The origins of Halloween lie in Ireland. For more facts about the spookiest night of the year, check out our fact check. In the meantime, we’re getting our costumes ready! 👻
In the summer we did a lot, we were on the road and sometimes neglected to treat ourselves to a little rest. Now we make ourselves comfortable in the spa area, relax in the sauna or let ourselves be pampered with a soothing massage.
If you want to take a further step towards finding balance, try a yoga or meditation retreat. Guided by professional trainers, it is easier to let go and find your center. The retreats are complemented by culinary delights and plenty of free time to explore the surroundings and the
inviting wellness areas. This makes it easy to switch off your head and simply take a deep breath. An overview of all retreats at Falkensteiner hotels can be found here.
If you like it more active, take advantage of the cooler temperatures in autumn to go up the mountain again before the first snowfalls, and also the hiking huts go into winter rest. The colorful foliage creates such a beautiful autumnal backdrop and even foggy days have their very own charm in the mountains.
Autumn is also an excellent time for city trips when the large crowds of tourists are absent and you can enjoy a metropolis in peace and quiet. How about a short vacation in Prague, for example? In November, the Falkensteiner Hotel Prague also reopens after extensive renovation and presents itself in urban boutique style. And anyone who has ever been to Prague in the fall knows that delicious tree cakes are already waiting on every corner 😋
The summer went by way too fast and the longing for a vacation in the south is already huge? Even in autumn, a stay at the sea can be wonderful. The deserted beaches invite you to take long walks, and if you still dare to dive into the water, you will be rewarded with warm water temperatures. After all, the Mediterranean Sea could heat up the whole summer. For sightseeing, the cooler weather is also ideal and why not also
want to spend a wellness vacation by the sea? The Falkensteiner Hotel & Spa Iadera in Croatia and the Falkensteiner Hotel & Spa Jesolo in Italy offer the ideal conditions for this.
While Thanksgiving often doesn’t play a big role in our country, Thanksgiving is a huge theme in America, for example. It doesn’t have to be a huge meal with turkey and a bending table in the US style, but let’s invite friends and family over to our house for dinner again.
As the name suggests, the essence of Thanksgiving is gratitude. So, especially at this time of year, let’s be thankful and aware of our privileges. If we are healthy, have a roof over our heads, and have enough food in the fridge, we are already better off than a large part of the world’s population. So this is a good occasion to give a helping hand to those who are less fortunate. A donation or voluntary service (for example in a women’s shelter or a homeless shelter) can make a big difference.
Our animal friends are also happy about some care from the autumn. So those who have their own garden do the animals good with a birdhouse or a few tit balls in the trees.
