The Happiness Provider of Punta Skala

He fulfils guest wishes even before they get up! Come with me and meet Carlos.

Job titles often sound strange and create a question mark. English words are played around with and experimented with to make the title sound even more modern, even more unusual and even more exciting. At best, these job titles make other people ask what they mean. I looked for the most interesting job title at Falkensteiner and asked for it.

Carlos Luis Quitana is our Happiness Provider in our Falkensteiner Hotel & Spa Iadera in Croatia. I would describe him as the impersonation of our slogan “Welcome Home”, because Carlos really makes you feel at home. Even if a year has passed since I last stayed as a guest in our hotel Iadera, Carlos recognises me and knows exactly what my favourite cocktail is. No matter what season I am there, he is always in a good mood, has a big smile on his face and spreads his positive mood throughout the hotel. This attitude is contagious and makes you even more relaxed. But what does a Happiness Provider do all day at Falkensteiner?

For the position of Happiness Provider, a love for detail, the passion to offer a first-class service and being proactive are important. In addition, one must be prepared for all eventualities and the unexpected. Without these prerequisites, it can be very difficult to do, enjoy and love this job.

As a Happiness Provider, Carlos ensures that his guests’ wishes are fulfilled even before they get up. This could be, for example, that our guests get their favourite cocktail on the lounger without having to order it or receive recommendations and tips for excursions, hotel activities and more or that they simply have someone to chat with.

Because you come to Iadera to leave stress behind and discover emotions, and Carlos helps you with that. The most exciting thing is that Carlos never knows who he’s going to meet next. It can get very exciting in our 5* hotel in Croatia, which is very popular with many celebrities. Carlos likes to remember the encounter with his football idols. Because there they were suddenly standing in front of him – Luka Modrić and Lothar Matthäus. Both stars have already spent their holidays in Iadera and are therefore among Carlos’s guests. He was not only able to get to know the football stars, but also to offer his first-class service as a Happiness Provider. “Make people happy!”, the most difficult and most important goal for Carlos, but also the part of his job that he enjoys the most.

Originally Carlos comes from Venezuela and came to Croatia because of his great love. Carlos has been in the hotel business for over 20 years now and it is an integral part of his life. He held various positions in bars, restaurants, on cruise ships and in hotels before he decided to come to Zadar to work for Falkensteiner. He chose the hotel business because he likes to take care of guests and prepare an unforgettable time for them. Because when guests have a good time, Carlos also has a great time.

Carlos is also one of our prominent employees and tells his story in one of our 38 Whatchado videosCarlos answers 7 questions about his job and career in this 4 minute video and also gives 3 pieces of advice to his 14 year old self: “Aim high, practice more and play hard every day”. A great video to get to know Carlos up close.

In summary, Carlos describes his job as a combination of teamwork, empathy and service. I am happy that Carlos has been with us for some years now and wish him many great and new experiences with his guests for the coming year.
