During my time as a student I did my summer internship at a winery in Verona. Even then I loved the unmistakable Italian way of enjoying life to the full. And when I asked where the most beautiful beaches of the country were, I always got the same answer – Sardegna, è ovvio! So it was not difficult for me to decide where to spend my beach holiday in the “Falkensteiner year of my life”: Sardinia, we are coming!
Destination airport for visitors to the south coast of Sardinia is mainly Cagliari. Especially in the summer months there are many direct flights from Austria and Germany to the southern Italian port city. From Aeroporto Cagliari it takes about 50 minutes to reach the Falkensteiner Resort Capo Boi . During the journey along the Mediterranean scrub covered, unspoiled coast, you are already aware that you are in one of the most beautiful places in Italy.
The pure white idyll lies embedded in a fine sandy private bay surrounded by cliffs. Since that day, my Italian vocabulary has improved because now I finally know what paradise means in Italian: Falkensteiner Capo Boi! We were greeted with hearty, Italian charm and from the very first second we felt very comfortable. If you are lucky, you may even be greeted by the faithful soul of the house, the donkey Angelino.

You can even make your first attempts at swimming at the Falkys Swimming Academy.
My friend and I started the second day of our holiday in the in-house Acquapura SPA. The 750m² contain everything that the wellness heart desires. A SPA world with steam bath, bio sauna, heated stone platforms for relaxing and access to the outdoor pool with an incredible panoramic view over the private bay. If that’s not enough relaxation for you, you can also take part in the daily yoga classes on the beach.
The Falkensteiner Resort Capo Boi is also the perfect place to discover the incredibly diverse underwater world of Sardinia. The underwater nature reserve Capo Carbonara is located directly on the coast of the resort. For diving enthusiasts and those who want to become diving enthusiasts, the resort offers diving & snorkelling tours by top qualified international diving instructors.
Normally I am not an advocate of typical clichés, but when it comes to this one point, I can agree with stereotypical thinkers: the Italians really know how to cook! If you love Italian food, you’ve come to the right place. Freshly caught fish, meat specialities and vegetarian gourmet dishes, everyone will find what they are looking for here. Only fresh, regional products are used. Almost a tribute to the delicious Sardinian cuisine! In addition to the Resort Restaurant, you can also have lunch and dinner in the Beach Restaurant directly in the bay. A beach bar and a club lounge are also available for night owls.
The next day started very early for us because, as an old sea dog, I wanted to see the beauty of Sardinia from the sea . The Falkensteiner Resort Capo Boi offers many different day trips for every taste. Our tour started at the local port of Villasimius, where “Mathilda” was already waiting for us. She is about five years younger than me and, 22 metres in length, she is one of the biggest sailing ships in the harbour. Our journey took us to the most beautiful beaches of the south coast, past the legendary Isola di Cavoli to Punta Molentis. We stopped for lunch there and nowhere else does lunch taste as good as on the powder white beach with a view to the turquoise sea.
Fortified and relaxed, we went on the second part of our day tour. A jeep was already waiting for us at the Punta Molentis and it took us out into the unspoiled natural setting of Sardinia. Our driver drove us across hill and dale to the most beautiful vantage points on the south coast. I highly recommend this tour to lovers of private excursions. You experience the island from a completely different perspective off the tourist paths and you are often slowed down by a herd of goats.
With a heavy heart we had to say goodbye again but we had come to the realisation that you don’t have to fly far away for an adventurous holiday with lots of tropical beaches and breathtaking natural scenery because all of this can be found close to home. The Falkensteiner Resort Capo Boi is just as diverse as the island. No matter if you are a big family, interested in diving, looking for peace and quiet or luxury lovers, everyone is welcome at this little piece of paradise!
