Shopping, sightseeing & wellness – reason enough for a trip to the Adriatic. Our goal was the Falkensteiner Hotel & Spa in Jesolo, which I only knew from pictures. A stylish hotel has been established here, with the motto “Jesolo meets Miami”. For the fourth time we were able to check into one of the great Falkensteiner hotels and our expectations were definitely exceeded. The hotel, which is the only one open in Jesolo at this time of year, leaves nothing to be desired.
Whether you’re here for shopping, sightseeing or wellness, everyone gets their money’s worth. As soon as you enter the hotel, you are welcomed by a bright, light-flooded, modern reception area. We were warmly welcomed and our room was also ready for us.
But there wasn’t much time to marvel at it, as we immediately made our way to Noventa di Piave. The Mc Arthur Glen Designer Outlet is only 30 minutes by car from the hotel and here you can definitely let your credit card blaze a trail. We spent the afternoon shopping under a bright blue sky and sunshine.
TIP for all hotel guests: Get the form for the outlet at the reception. At the Info Counter, at the Outlet, you can exchange it for a card and start shopping. It gives you an additional 10% discount in quite a large number of shops.
In the evening we went back to the hotel, where we had an Aperol, as you should when in Italy, at sunset at the beach bar and enjoyed the sea air. Back in the room, we got ready for dinner.
TIP: Book half board with us! The food and the service are fantastic and resemble a fine-dining restaurant.
The next morning I was very curious to find out what the breakfast buffet had to offer. I was not to be disappointed – I have rarely seen such a spread in a hotel. Above all, my husband and I love Anti Pasti, both in the morning and in the evening. Italy is simply our country.
Fortified with a good breakfast, we set off towards Venice. The real reason for our trip to Italy. I had already been to the lagoon city a few times and couldn’t wait to explore it with my husband. It is easy to get to Venice from Jesolo.
By car it takes about 30 minutes to reach Punta Sabbioni, where there is a large car park (cost: EUR 7.00/day). Then you continue by ship.
TIP: Buy a day ticket! (Cost: EUR 20.00) – but it also allows you to use the water buses in Venice, so it is really worth it.
As in Venice you are on your feet a lot, the water buses are the perfect place to take a short breather. The good thing is that you don’t miss anything, quite the opposite in fact, you see Venice again from a completely different perspective!
From Punta Sabbioni take line 15 directly to Piazza San Marco. The journey takes about 25 minutes.
We arrived in Venice at noon and there was already a lot going on. First we explored St. Mark’s Square and then strolled comfortably through the beautiful alleys towards the Rialto Bridge, which is of course an absolute must if you are in Venice for the first time. It is best not to stick to a plan here, but simply to let yourself be carried away by the colourful hustle and bustle of the city.
TIP: The Fondaco dei Tedeschi is an exclusive department store that only opened its doors at the beginning of October. Here luxury knows no bounds. Gucci, Valentino, anything your heart desires. The building has a wonderful, small panoramic terrace where you have a wonderful view over all of Venice and, best of all, it’s free. All you have to do is get a card with a specific time from the info counter on the top floor and go back there at the specified time.
In the meantime we went to a small café “around the corner” and enjoyed our cappuccino in the backyard. Coffee and Italy – a real treat. In the late afternoon, we set off back to Jesolo. We had a wonderful time that I will remember for a long time.
Unfortunately the next day we had to go home again. But as we hadn’t had time yet to enjoy the spa area to the full, we took advantage of it on the day of departure. Because of the change to winter time, we had gained one hour and were thus one of the first at breakfast. The cappuccino in the hotel is also highly recommended, a dream! After breakfast we went into the sauna for an infusion, then into the whirlpool with a view over the beach and the rest of the time we enjoyed the peace and quiet. Around noon we started our journey home. I haven’t had such a hard time driving home in a long time.
It is really a beautiful time of year to travel to the Mediterranean, a long way away from all the hustle and bustle of the high season. And if the weather is not so nice, the hotel offers a wonderful spa area, where it is quite easy to spend a whole day.
Many thanks to the entire Falkensteiner team who made this wonderful stay possible. A birthday weekend to my taste. We’ll definitely be back!
