Is glamping the new camping?

Team Katze, selten offline.
Jamie Oliver has been preaching it for a long time, Bridget Jones did it and even royal dream couple Will & Kate couldn’t resist. What are we talking about? The travel trend of the last few years, of course. Glamping – the artificial word composed of “glamour” and “camping” promises the best of both worlds. Like classic camping, it’s about closeness to nature, adventure and also a touch of nostalgia. But – and that’s the point – with a lot of comforts and everything a city kid like me needs to feel at home in a mobile home.
In theory, that all sounds quite good. But I remain sceptical because in my whole life I have slept exactly one night in a tent. And that night was really unforgettable – why remains my little secret at this point – but it made me suspicious enough to take a closer look at the glamping trend before I jump into the adventure. So here is my 5-point checklist for non-campers who would like to become glampers:

1. the comfort

If you are not travelling with your own caravan, you have the option of moving into a smart mobile home at the Premium Camping Zadar in Croatia. The mobile homes are located only a few minutes walk from the old town of Zadar, in the heart of pine forests with plenty of shade and yet only a few steps away from the pebble beach.
Fully equipped with your own kitchen and a cosy outdoor area, you can unwind here and still get a taste of camping air.

2. the programme

Summer, sun, sunshine. The name says it all. If you’ve had enough of the beach, the Falkensteiner Premium Campsite has a fantastic pool area with its own children’s area. Those who like it sporty can look forward to an extensive activity and animation programme. Tennis and volleyball courts are waiting for exciting matches, and thanks to bicycle rental, it’s easy to explore the surroundings.
The most beautiful bays around Zadar are best explored by boat – and such a day on the water really gives you that holiday feeling. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, the old town of Zadar invites you to stroll and shop. What more could you want?

3. what must I take with me?

I pack my suitcase and take it with me: really experienced campers are masters of improvisation. If you travel with your own home, you should be prepared for many eventualities. On a glamping holiday in a mobile home, you can take a more relaxed approach to plan. The fully equipped accommodation units have everything you need for your holiday. With functional outdoor clothing, you are also well served for excursions and active programmes. The most important thing: don’t forget your swimsuit and sunscreen.

4. culinary delights

You can leave your camping cooker and disposable barbecue at home without a guilty conscience when glamping. In the fully equipped kitchens in mobile homes, all culinary wishes can be realised without any problems. If you don’t feel like cooking yourself after a sunny day at the beach, simply go to the á la carte restaurant with a sea view and let yourself be spoilt with regional delicacies.

5. the style factor

Oll campsite? Not a chance! Straightforward design, modern and functional facilities and a fantastic location surrounded by four national parks. The successful combination of camping and facilities at the highest level leaves no holiday wish unfulfilled. Those who don’t want to forego styling even on a glamping holiday are right on trend with easy festival looks. Fringes, folklore elements, shorts and colourful headbands round off the glamping style. The perfect Insta motif is quickly found thanks to the dreamy bays and wildly romantic pine forests 😉
