In the first few months of the year, not only do the temperatures keep dropping towards zero – the cold days also take their toll on our energy reserves. It’s hard to get out of bed in the morning, and the famous midday slump suddenly extends into the afternoon. Because hibernation isn’t an option for our species, we’ve come up with something different: colorful smoothies that not only put you in a good mood but also provide a juicy energy boost. We’re popping the vitamin bomb and sharing our favorite recipes that will give you a breather from the winter blues.

Now it’s getting berry: raspberry breakfast smoothie.

It’s green, so green: the spinach-kiwi smoothie

You’ll probably look in vain for it in grandma’s recipe book, but you’ll find it all the more frequently on Instagram: Green smoothies are currently – literally – on everyone’s lips. And rightly so, because they are packed with nutrients and help you get over any afternoon slump. The spinach contained in these smoothies not only makes Popeye strong, but our favorite recipe also features fruity kiwis. And did you know that two large kiwis meet the daily vitamin C requirements of an adult? Well then, let’s get to work on the blender!

  • 1 apple
  • 2 kiwis
  • 1 handful baby spinach
  • 1 handful of chard
  • 1/2 ripe banana
  • 200 ml water

Peel the banana and kiwi and remove the apple core. Then cut the fruit into coarse pieces. Together with the water and the washed baby spinach and chard, you puree the whole thing to your green energy supplier.

The sun in a glass: orange-ginger smoothie

Want a liquid summer feeling? This orange-ginger smoothie makes sure of it. After all, orange is complementary to blue and thus turns the winter blues into the opposite: the cheerful color is guaranteed to put you in a good mood. This fruity smoothie strengthens you with a good portion of minerals and the healthy micronutrients of the ginger root.
