Kitschphobes please don’t click, it’s going to be sugary sweet, and festive here today! Inspired by the American series and films of the 90s, my inner child has taken the helm and without further ado set off in search of the most beautiful gingerbread houses on the internet. What rocking chairs on New England porches, pumpkins, and plaids are in the TV autumn, is conveyed in the pre-Christmas season with fir garlands, hot cocoa including mini marshmallows, and, of course, gingerbread houses: The perfect (suburban) idyll, sugared snow-white, and a cozy life like in a little snow globe. It’s hard to imagine that the reality of gingerbread house baking and decorating with children can produce similarly picturesque results as pictured below. But the sticky mess is definitely fun, I can say that from my own experience a few years ago. Of course, the four-year-old’s aesthetic standards were a little different from my own, but the result was a really cute, colorful little house with all kinds of glitter, purple ‘snow’, and a little Union Jack flag on the roof. The absolute stunners are waiting for you in the following collection! It’s fascinating to see how much love, skill, and dedication went into this. On my bucket list now is definitely the attempt to create a similarly enchanting specimen. Someday. With lighting and sugar ‘glass’ windows. Hach, what a little dream – the longing for crackling fires, peace, and security can be surprisingly well put into a baking project and implemented as a miniature object of desire. The thought makes me wonder if I’m alone in my theory that the gingerbread house is a projection screen for the deepest desires?
