Let’s celebrate International Children’s Day!

International Children’s Day is usually celebrated on 1 June and is a special opportunity to show our love and care for children worldwide. As a family, this is a great occasion to take a wonderful trip with activities centred around our youngest ones!

About International Children's Day

International Children’s Day is celebrated on various days around the world, but the best known is 1 June. This day aims to emphasise the importance of children in our lives and focus on their well-being. Although it is also about raising public awareness of children’s needs, this day should not be confused with World Children’s Day on 20 September.

While World Children’s Day (introduced in 1954) is intended to safeguard children’s rights, including, for example, improving educational and participation opportunities for every child, regardless of their parents’ origin or income, and ensuring child-friendly living conditions for refugee children, International Children’s Day is simplistically aimed at giving kids a special event once a year. Although International Children’s Day is also intended to remind us of our responsibility for the well-being and future of the youngest members of our society, 1 June has developed into more of a day of celebration since the World Conference on the Welfare of Children in 1925. From the 1950s at the latest, there were events in many places with special children’s programmes, parades, congratulations and gifts from parents and teachers.

We really like this idea and know of numerous ways to make the day (or the whole weekend) unforgettable. For example, with a small gift, a favourite meal or an exciting holiday with the whole family at Falkensteiner Hotels & Residences, which are specially designed for children.

At Falkensteiner, children are VIP guests

What could be better than children’s laughter, shining eyes and happy faces? At Falkensteiner family hotels, families can expect an all-round feel-good experience. Here, exciting adventures meet relaxing moments; with action, fun, games, educational entertainment programmes and the long-awaited relaxation of all family members, the little ones will definitely not miss out. Varied programmes such as FUNtastic Weekends and Happy Kiddos are tailored to the different age groups of the children. Highlights for the whole family in our hotels include the adventurous, fun and educational entertainment programme from babies to teenagers, discounted overnight rates for children, culinary delights as half board, full board or all-inclusive and of course the Falky Land play area with craft station, science lab and much more!

The fluffy, somewhat clumsy and always playful Falky stands for fun and adventure – everything that makes a perfect family holiday. With great entertainment programmes and loving childcare, Falky and his team ensure that children have a great time. Whether it’s a dance evening with live music, karaoke singing, family competition, themed evening or workshops, there’s something for everyone.

We have great news for all those planning a visit to the Falkensteiner Club Funimation Borik, as a new, larger and better equipped Falky Land with a view of the sea has opened there! There is also a new Falky Eco Rangers concept for children who want to explore national parks and coastal environments, where the Falkensteiner team will introduce them to the rich diversity of animals, plants and waters in the Mediterranean climate. This trip focuses on the region around Zadar, from Paklenica to Kornati, Krka and Plitvice, and awakens the curiosity of young nature lovers.

Edutainment programmes based on the Montessori principle

Parents who want to offer their children fun and education at the same time will also get their money’s worth at Falkensteiner Hotels & Residences! One of the most popular approaches to creating content for children is edutainment, a concept that means developing programmes that allow children to acquire and develop new knowledge and skills in a fun way. It is based on interactivity and the use of different media and formats for the presentation of educational content, as it has been shown that children absorb the content more quickly and easily.

In addition to all the new rooms designed especially for children and families, the Falkensteiner Family Hotel Diadora also offers special weekend programmes, so-called Happy Kiddos Weekends, which are based on Montessori principles and conscious pedagogy. Babies, toddlers, older children and parents play, learn and enjoy family time together. The programmes are developed by nutrition, robotics, STEM or education experts with art and music and complement the already extensive range of academies and edutainment programmes at the hotel. The Happy Kiddos Weekends are taking place until the end of June!
