Has running a marathon always been one of your goals? We have a better idea: Triathlon in paradise!
Anyone who is contemplating a triathlon in the future, would do well to go to the Falkensteiner Punta Skala Triathlon in Zadar. Whether professional, amateur or beginner, the Falkensteiner Punta Skala Triathlon offers the perfect challenge for every athlete in dreamlike surroundings and a relaxed atmosphere. The distances between hotel, start and finish are not far, the starter field is pleasantly manageable and the atmosphere is balanced as expected in a holiday paradise. Where else does it take only five minutes to get from the hotel room to the start and you can treat yourself to a massage or a hamam treatment afterwards? Or would you rather go to the sauna? The selection is large and anyone who manages to finish has more than earned it!
But back to the sporting part: You can choose between a middle distance and a sprint triathlon, as well as an aquathlon and a 5 km and a 10 km run along the coast. While the middle distance event, featuring 1.9 km swimming, 90 km cycling and 21.1 km running, should not be tackled without extensive training, the sprint triathlon can also be done well without special training. This event includes 250 m swimming, 7 km cycling and 1.5 km running. Perfect for all leisure athletes. If you want to try out the Sprint Triathlon but don’t want to transport your own bike to Zadar, you can also rent a bike at your local Falkensteiner bike rental. Due to the short distances, the Aquathlon is especially suitable for children who want to taste the air of competition. No matter which competition you choose, one thing is for sure: the sea is always close by and the sun smiles down on you all the time. Not to forget the sea breeze, which provides the necessary cooling in between. You could not wish for more!
On the day before the competitions, you have to pick up the starting documents and go to the competition meeting where the most important details of the course are discussed. Nobody should get lost on the track or lose time because of a small mistake. So please don’t skip the briefing.
Those who lay out their sportswear, timekeeping chip, swimming goggles and everything else they need in the evening, will save themselves unnecessary stress on the morning of the triathlon! The high temperatures should not be underestimated, so it is best to prepare a few more water bottles, then place them in the transition zone and attach them to the bike. And don’t forget: go to bed early, the next morning is quite something! It starts at 7 or 8 o’clock, depending on the distance you will cover.
The alarm clock rings early, preferably at least three hours before the start, then you can have breakfast in peace at the Falkensteiner Family Hotel Diadora, which opens the breakfast buffet especially early for all athletes on the day, after which you have to take your bike and changing things to the transition zone. Check in, as they say in the triathlon jargon. And then things quickly get serious. Nerves start playing up as you go towards the start. Not much to think about, enjoy the sun, swimming goggles on and down into the clear and beautiful turquoise sea!
You can’t imagine a better swimming course. After the swim, you run to the transition zone.
Quickly put on your helmet, put on your shoes, grab your bike and push it in the direction of the bike course. Warning: the bicycle may only be ridden after the timing line. Before that you have to push it.
Now quickly challenge the bike course and admire the landscape, return to the transition zone, park your bike and enjoy the last kilometres of the running course along the sea to the finish!
And then you can finally celebrate! With the spectators and Falky, the hotel mascot!
The triathlon in paradise is over! And the best part? The Falkensteiner Hotel & Spa Iadera is not far away for a massage afterwards, and numerous swimming pools and the sea are already waiting to help you cool off after the morning’s efforts!
Once you’ve exhausted yourself, you must of course replenish your strength. No problem! At the Falkensteiner Family Hotel Diadora, lunch is served for all participants after the competitions before the winners are honoured. Even if you haven’t landed on the podium, you shouldn’t miss it! And after so much sport, you can just lounge in the water and in the sun in the days that follow. Triathlon in paradise makes it possible!
PS: For all of you who are now interested, the next Falkensteiner Punta Skala Triathlon will take place in 2018! Don’t miss this sporting spectacle!
