Sport at Falkensteiner

Sport is an incredibly important activity that each of us should integrate into our daily lives as best we can. Sport also plays an important role at Falkensteiner and is one of the trademarks of this hotel group.

A few weeks ago I was able to spend 4 days together with my cousin Raphael, Tobi and Joel from fitnap, Markus aka “Der Steira“, Ana from Ana’s Fashionality and her friend Florentina at the Falkensteiner Therme & Golf Hotel Bad Waltersdorf. We tried some sports I had never done before under the motto “Sport at Falkensteiner”.

After we arrived and checked in speedily, there was a guided tour of the hotel, followed by dinner together with the whole group, which I had been looking forward to the whole day. The best thing was, besides the great food and the great service, that we were given a new Polar M200, as a “small” welcome gift!

The next day we started the sports programme!

In the morning, archery with the Falkensteiner Hotel & Spa Carinzia was on the programme. Since I had never tried this sport before and I didn’t even know how to hold a bow correctly, I couldn’t tell if I would like it at all. After a short introduction, we started with the first attempts at shooting. After a few misses everyone got the hang of it and we were ready for a little battle to find out who would be the next Robin Hood. Conclusion: it was really cool and incredibly funny.

After lunch, it was boot camp time, this time with the Falkensteiner Hotel & Spa Bad Leonfelden. High intensity training, racing pulse and midday sun – exactly the right thing for me!

Since the training was really hard, we earned a few hours in the Acquapura SPA and the following dinner with one, two (or more) beers.

The third day also had some interesting sports on the programme!

Yoga in the morning dispels worry and sorrow. “Yoga is definitely the right thing to do after an intense boot camp and a perhaps rather late night.” Or that is what I thought. To the amazement of everyone, the session with the trainer from the Falkensteiner Schlosshotel Velden was incredibly strenuous, but also very instructive! I experienced – often in a painful way – where my strengths and weaknesses lie and how I can work on them to compensate for them.

After the yoga session there was a picnic and then we went straight to the Smovey session, this time with an in-house trainer. Up to that point, I had no idea what Smovey was and most of you probably don’t know either.

This relatively young trendy sport works with two spiral hose rings. Inside the rings there are four steel balls which generate vibrations through movement. The smoveyVIBROSWING is a very versatile piece of sports equipment that can be used for a wide variety of sports activities, including walking, massaging, training coordination, and so on.

At the end of the day we went to the neighbouring golf course. As with archery, I was a complete beginner here. Well maybe not completely. Of course I’ve played miniature golf one or two times or so. But after hitting the first few balls, we quickly realised that one had nothing to do with the other. Although it was incredibly difficult and I could only hit a ball halfway well once in a while, it was really fun. Conclusion: After 60 mostly unsuccessful hits, my arm almost fell off. Tiger Woods won’t be interested in me anymore!

We had dinner together with the other bloggers on the last evening and on Thursday we went home again.

Last but not least I would like to thank Falkensteiner Hotels for the invitation and all the people who were there! It was really a great trip and for me a good opportunity to try out new sports.
